Ryuu is a minor character living in the 24th District's slums who first appeared in Kapitel 71.

Etymology

'Ryuu' means 'dragon' in Japanese.

Appearance

Ryuu is rather short; there is little difference between his and Nene's heights. His facial shape and hairstyle are similar to Nene's. However, his hair colour is not the same as hers. His fringe falls over his forehead in several strands.

Personality

Ryuu has been shown to have an irritable and hot-tempered personality, especially when he feels that Nene's safety is being threatened.

Relationships

Nene: Ryuu is fiercely protective of Nene. She is his only family.

Manga synopsis

Ryuu and two other residents of the 24th District find Frau's unconscious body, and because he does not have a pulse, they assume that he is dead. Just as they are giving him a burial, Frau awakens and they are initially frightened, but eventually introduce themselves and give him some water. Ryuu attacks Frau when he feels that Frau poses a threat to Nene's safety, but one of the others restrains him (Ryuu).

Ryuu briefly reappears near the end of Kapitel 79, along with Nene.
